How do I purchase tickets for these events?

Tickets are available online or by calling City Opera House at 231.941.8082. Tickets range in price from $25 for general admission, $30 for VIP reserved seating and $35 for auditorium-level table seats (plus applicable box office service fees). Each table seats ten guests. Tickets to all competitive events are available after the media event in August. All ticket sales are final.

 

Where do the events take place?

All events are held at City Opera House, located at 106 East Front Street, Traverse City, MI 49684.

 

Is there food or drink provided with my ticket?

Ticket prices do not include food or drink. A cash bar is available at every event. Food may be pre-ordered by any ticket holder from our exclusive event caterer, no later than one week prior to each event, and will be delivered directly to the venue. Outside food or drink is not permitted. (Charity table sponsors may arrange food for their table, so please confirm before ordering personally.) What is the schedule of each competitive event?

Doors open at 6:30pm. Our dance team coaches will lead an audience dance lesson at 6:45pm for those interested in participating! At 7:15 SwingShift takes the stage and the main event commences. The evening will last roughly three hours with a scheduled intermission to occur after the fourth couple’s performance. Voting and donations will be finalized near the end of each evening with winner being announced prior to the conclusion of the event.

 

Is there a dress code?

The competitive events are not black tie, however we suggest semi-formal attire. Sparkles, flirty skirts, bowties, suspenders and generally fun date night wardrobe choices are encouraged!

November is our themed “Country / Classic Rock” night – so darn your hats, boots and maybe even a bit of leather!

 

Can we bring the kids?

Our events are family friendly, but definitely adult-oriented. Children must have a ticket and be accompanied by an adult at all times.

 

How does the voting / donating process work? 

Upon admission to each event, every ticket holder is provided with one envelope. The audience member is then able to vote for their favorite dance couple for a minimum donation of $5. However, everyone is encouraged to donate as much as they would like, $5 is just a starting point! Donations can either be designated to the charity represented by the favored couple or to any of the charities. Ticket holders may vote one time regardless of donation amount and must be present at the event. Donations are always accepted online.

 

How much of my donation will end up at my chosen charity?

100% of the funds donated (during and between events) go directly to the participating charities. All event costs are covered by ticket sales and by the generous support of our event sponsors.

 

Does my vote actually make a difference?

ABSOLUTELY! At the end of the evening, the dance team that earns the highest judges score at each event will be presented with an Achievement Award bonus check–amount exceeding $2,000 thanks to: Judy & Brad Harrison, Kelvin Shaw, Max Dingeman, Dr. Heather Rassel, Dan Brady, Dr. Pat Friedli, and Marilyn & Tom Taylor–to present to their charity at the end of the night. The couple with the most audience votes will win a $500 award from our supportive All-Star Show Sponsors–Traverse Motors, Team Elmer’s, Plante Moran & Schmuckal Oil Company. It’s immediate gratification for the dancers’ hard work and bragging rights, too!
